which is the 230th anniversary of this country declaring independence from the British crown. The Declaration has five parts and is summarized with these last words: “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”  The 56 men that signed this document did just that.  There are not men of this caliber today because people have a different mindset from today’s world.  There is a since of going so far but stops when it involves their own possessions. We are taught in Matthew 6:19-21(KJV) ”Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”  The Bible was quoted more often than any other book by the founding fathers.     Click here to listen now or go to the other lessons celebrating Independence Day.

DeclassificationThe Declassification of Biblical Truth - The lesson on July 9, 2006 speaks to the secret things of God and how they are selectively revealed by God at the proper time.  The verse in Deuteronomy 29:29a (KJV) says “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever...”  This scripture tells us that God keeps secrets but when he reveals them to us, they belong to us and our descendants forever.  You might name the Godhead the Heavenly Intelligence Agency (HIA) and they are responsible for this dissemination of heavenly knowledge at the right time, to specific people. For instance in 1 Peter 1:19-20 (KJV), God tells us the the Blood of Christ was established before the foundation of the world and was the secret to the forgiveness of sins and was revealed after the death, burial, and resurrection to Israel and eventually to the Gentiles - “But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you.”  The biggest secret of all was revealed by the apostle Paul in Ephesians 3:9 and Colossians 1:25 -26 called The Mystery which declares the fact that Christ has accomplished His plan and we as individuals can be a part of it when we become members of the Body of Christ from accepting salvation in Christ and realizing what he has done for each and everyone of us.  The Declassification of Biblical Truth The lesson had a handout    Be sure and listen now.

otstudyp16The Old Testament Study - Part 16 - There seems to be a pattern with Christians that approach reading scripture like a combination salad, that they don’t rightly divide.  We’ve been asked to study to be approved unto God and that means to learn how to read scripture like a seven course meal with every course in it’s order.  The reason we have been studying the Old Testament is to ensure that we learn how to rightly divide.  To learn why God chose Abraham to become a nation that He would deal with exclusively throughout the Old Testament and into the New Testament as well.  The lesson on July 16, 2006 is the sixteenth lesson in the series and continues the discussion from Malachi to Matthew.  Matthew shows the birth of Christ fulfilling all of the Old Testament prophecies.  We find that all of the Old Testament writers are witnesses to God’s plan and purpose throughout  the ages.  Paul writes in Galatians that in the fullness of times, Christ was born.  When Christ began his ministry he was 30 years old but God’s plan didn’t change at the birth of Christ.  His plan was still in play that was put in motion with Abraham.  In Abraham there was a promise that they would be a great nation that would bless the nations.  This lesson shows the plan of God and how it ties in with what he started with Israel and continued through with Christ all the way until the end of Acts.      Click here to listen now or you may want to go to the entire Old Testament series.

otstudyp17The Old Testament Study - Part 17 - The passage in Luke 3:1-6 is a typical passage that most of Christianity today is familiar with from a traditionalist point of view.  However, if you were to take the same group of Christians to the book of Ephesians and read chapter one through three and really study the differences between the truths that are there vs. what you find in the Gospels, most of the group would try to keep what is in the Gospels vs. what Paul tells us we have in Christ.  This is why Christians are totally ignorant with the truths that belong to us.  They try and apply what is given to Israel vs. what has been given to the Christian in Christ.  The lesson on July 23, 2006 spends time in the Gospels and studies why nothing has changed from the call to Abraham and the calling of the nation Israel.  The mindset that was in the nation of Israel at the time John the Baptist was born was the same mindset that Israel had over the previous 500 years.  This mindset is shown in Luke 1:67-68 (KJV) “And his father (John the Baptist’s father) Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,”  This shows the two things that Israel had been looking for - to be visited and redeemed.  This is the hope and the promise that had been given to Abraham.  This passage in Luke comes from Isaiah 35:4 (KJV) “Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.”  He will come and save you is the same as visiting and redeeming.  This lesson is the seventh lesson in the Old Testament series    Click here to listen now.
