This passage in scripture details Jesus Christ borrowing Peter’s fishing boat so He could minister to the crowd that had come to hear him speak. As it says in Luke 5:1-3 “And it
came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen
were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him
that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.” Now this passage tells of Jesus
recruiting Simon Peter to be fishers of men. But before he came to that invitation, Simon demonstrated his lack of commitment to Jesus when He
had asked him to do something. The lesson continues in verses 4-6 “Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering
said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they
had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.” The Lord had asked Simon to cast his nets (plural), but Simon
was placating Jesus and told Him they had fished all night and caught
nothing, but, he would cast one net to “obey” what Jesus wanted. Simon had been partially committed to what God
wanted him to do and it created problems for him and his fishing buddies. For Simon had caught too many fish for just one
net and it started to break. We need to be sure and be fully committed and obedient to what God has asked us to do! Click here to listen now. You may want to review all of the audio lessons given by Leland Maples

Colossians Study - Part 16 (final). The audio lesson for March 9, 2008 is now available. Click here to listen now. The lesson is part 16 of a study in Colossians and finishes the audio series. You may review all of the lessons in this series here.
The Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Christ, Part 1. The audio lesson for March 16, 2008 is now available. This
was the first lesson in a two part series regarding Easter. This first lesson studies what is traditionally called Palm Sunday
but brings out some interesting facts about Jesus Christ entrance into Jerusalem. His entrance was not on Sunday, and
he not only entered into Jerusalem once, but twice! Click here to listen now. There was also a reference to the Companion Bible Appendix 156 to help clarify the fixed dates of the events leading up to His crucifixion.
You may want to download and review this appendix to supplement your studies.
The Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Christ, Part 2. The audio lesson for March 23, 2008 is now available. This
was the second lesson in an Easter series. The resurrection of Christ is the most important aspect of what God has done
for us. As Christian’s, we serve a risen savior and have a personal relationship with the one mediator between God and
man, the man Christ Jesus! There are many lessons you can review regarding Easter and the resurrection. Click here to listen now.
The Warfare - Part 1.
The lesson on March, 30, 2008 started a new series on the warfare that is discussed in Ephesians 6:10:17. Paul was warning the church at Ephesus to be
cognizant of the warfare that is taking place with the devil... as he said in Eph. 6:10-12 “Finally,
my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of
God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against
flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” In this series we will go back to the
beginning with the fall of Lucifer who became Satan who started the spiritual warfare that we
are a part of... whether we know it or not, and look at the warfare that has taken place throughout the ages. Click here to listen now.
