The Covenants

The Covenants  Here is an audio series covering the Covenants in scripture. It was given by Dr. Clifford McLain in 1986 near his retirement as pastor of Northside Bible Church. This audio series is one that covers the promises made by God throughout the ages as revealed in scripture. A good compliment to these audio lessons are the articles on Covenants as well as the large dispenational chart found in the Charts section.

Covenant and The Mystery
- Any church or group of believers today who will claim any of the promises given to Abraham, or the covenants or even the law, are simply thieves and robbers. It is such that Paul speaks of as having departed from him, which means they departed from the truth that God by a special dispensation had entrusted to Paul. So we are obliged to conclude that the covenant and the mystery have nothing in common, they do not overlap, and neither do they have the same hope and time of resurrection. Here is a study from the Truth for Today archives comparing Covenants to The Mystery. Read more here...

The New Covenant - The following is an endeavour to set forth as simply as possible what are the prominent features of the New Covenant. In doing this, the subject has been treated as though it had not been previously considered. Several scriptures, the testimony of which are most important, have been frequently quoted to the extent of repetition, but we do not feel that a complaint will be made by any sincere seeker for truth. We trust that these pages may be used to lead, not only to a clearer understanding of the New Covenant, but also to the apprehension of the truth of the Mystery which, during this present dispensation, God is desiring to make known to His saints.

The New Covenant in Relation to the Lords Supper - “And as they were eating (i. e., the Passover, see verses 17 and 19), Jesus took bread (i.e. a Passover loaf of unleavened bread), and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat, this is My body. And He took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; for this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Here is an excerpt from Charles Welch’s book “An Alphabetical Analysis” Volume 2. Click here to read more...

Covenant - Israel is associated with a covenant, old and new. Believing Gentiles during the Acts were blessed with faithful Abraham, but by nature and in the flesh the Gentiles were strangers from the covenant of promise, and in the teaching of the Prison Epistles, no covenant of any description is known. Most christians are quick to assume the New Covenant applies to them... yet it’s promised to Israel. Click here to read more about the word Covenant in scripture.
